This policy explains what personal information Life in Tabs collects, why we use it and the choices available to you when you visit lifeintabs.com, download a resource or join a Life in Tabs email list.

Who is responsible for your information?

Life in Tabs is the data controller for the personal information covered by this policy. For privacy questions, requests or concerns, email hello@lifeintabs.com.

This website currently provides articles, printable resources and email lists. It does not currently create member accounts or take payments through the site.

What information do we collect?

Information you give us

When you join an email list or request a free resource, we collect:

• your email address;
• the Life in Tabs list, resource or product update you selected;
• the page and form used to sign up, where available;
• the date and time of your signup; and
• the consent wording and version shown when you signed up.

We may also record whether a download was promised so that we can deliver the correct resource. If you email us, we receive the email address, message and any other information you choose to include. Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary.

Information collected when you browse

Our hosting and security systems may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, referring page, request time and basic error or security information.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand visits in aggregate and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how the site performs on real devices. Vercel says Web Analytics uses anonymised, aggregated data and does not use cookies. The analytics data can include the page visited, referrer, approximate location, device type, operating system, browser and timestamp. We do not put your email address into these analytics events.

How and why do we use your information?

We use personal information to:

• send the free resource, welcome message or waitlist update you asked for;
• send the Life in Tabs reset notes or product updates you explicitly chose to receive;
• manage list preferences, unsubscribe requests and records of consent;
• reply to enquiries, support requests and privacy requests;
• operate, secure and troubleshoot the website; and
• understand general usage and improve the site’s content, accessibility and performance.

Where UK data protection law applies, our usual lawful bases are consent for email signups and marketing, legitimate interests for responding to enquiries and operating or securing the site, and legal obligation or legitimate interests for keeping suppression and consent records. You can withdraw consent or opt out of marketing at any time.

We do not use your information for solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not sell or rent personal information.

Email and marketing choices

We only add you to an email list when you actively submit the relevant form and tick its consent box. The list or topic you select determines the emails you receive. Each marketing email includes a way to opt out. You can also email hello@lifeintabs.com with “Unsubscribe” in the subject line.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop us keeping a minimal suppression record, such as your email address and opt-out status, because we need to avoid sending you further marketing and keep evidence of your choice.

Who do we share information with?

We use a small number of service providers to run the website and email lists:

• Resend stores email contacts and list preferences and sends Life in Tabs emails on our behalf. Resend may process your email address, email content and related delivery information. Read Resend’s Privacy Policy and Resend’s Data Processing Addendum.
• Vercel hosts the website and provides Web Analytics and Speed Insights. Read Vercel’s Privacy Notice and Vercel’s Web Analytics Privacy Information.

We may also disclose information where necessary to comply with law, protect the site or our users, or obtain professional advice. We do not sell personal information or share it with advertisers for their own marketing.

International transfers

Resend and Vercel may process information in the United States and other countries outside the UK. Where a transfer is subject to UK transfer rules, we use an adequacy decision or another legally recognised safeguard, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent contractual protections, as required by law.

How long do we keep information?

We keep your email address, list preference and consent record while you are subscribed or while we need them to deliver the service you requested. After you unsubscribe, we generally keep only the minimum suppression information needed to honour your opt-out and demonstrate compliance. We delete or anonymise other information when it is no longer needed for the purposes described above, unless we need to keep it for legal, security or dispute-resolution reasons.

Vercel’s analytics and performance retention depends on the Vercel plan and service settings in use. Provider backups and security logs may be retained for a limited period under the providers’ own retention practices.

How do we protect information?

We use access controls, secure connections and the security features provided by our hosting and email providers. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid sending information that you do not want handled through email.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances and the law that applies, you may have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
• ask us to erase information or restrict how we use it;
• object to processing based on legitimate interests, and object at any time to direct marketing;
• receive certain information in a portable format; and
• withdraw consent where we rely on consent.

To exercise a right, email hello@lifeintabs.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.

Children and external links

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The site links to external websites, including social platforms and service-provider pages; those sites have their own privacy policies and terms.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site, the services we use or the law changes. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last reviewed. We will publish the updated version here.
